ABOUT ME
My
It
For as long as I can remember, I've made it a habit to carry out four routines on a daily basis: (1) wake up, (2) drink coffee, (3) write, (4) go to bed.
By following this rigid schedule for the last 37 years, I've managed to stay alive, publish a few bestselling books, snag a couple of awards, mentor hundreds of students, and purchase a Keurig Coffee Maker.
Let's chat.
I am a first-generation high school graduate, college graduate, and I earned two master's degrees. My high school guidance counselor informed me that I would earn my diploma, however there was no need for her to talk to me about attending college because I was not college material.
My guidance counselor didn't know it at the time, but she gave me the fuel I needed to prove what I knew all along, I would become a successful college student and I graduated from Shaw University four years later with a bachelor's degree in business and accounting with academic honors.
In other words, my guidance counselors' comments were not the end of my story, because I also graduated from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) program, as a distinguished graduate of Military Science from N.C. State University.
I am sharing this with you because I had always had a goal to write a book, so I brushed up on my writing skills as I earned two master's degrees in the USAF from Central Michigan University and Florida Institute of Technology, while I served for over twenty years in the USAF. I retired in the rank of lieutenant colonel. It was my one year on Capitol Hill that I really honed my writing skills because as a Capitol Hill Fellow, in the U.S. House of Representatives. I was required to draft language for bills, write letters to constituents, and once I returned to the Pentagon where I worked for over 12 consecutive years, I led the policy branch, it required a lot of writing that helped me become a better writer.
,Once I retired from the USAF, I became a professional speaker and after a 12-city speaking tour, I attended a marketing symposium hosted by my speaker coach, Dottie Walters. One month later I wrote Living on Higher Ground, years later I wrote Faith For Times Like Now, my goal is to write ten books in total.
I enjoy being an author and speaking, I am a leadership expert and I love everything about writing and sharing it with amazing audiences.
